Second Chance Farm began in 2007 and is owned by Larry and Lynda Balins located in Littlestown, Pennsylvania near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It was named after Lynda’s show pony Second Chance and because both Larry and Lynda were previously married. Lynda has spent her entire life around horses and originally showed hunter jumpers as a youth. Lynda was AQHA rookie of the year in 2007 followed by Larry in 2008 showing At Last In Gold “Elvis” a beautiful palomino halter horse. In 2009 the Balins purchased Jus Passin Time Chip “Ernie” and Lynda and Ernie accomplished many awards including Reserve Champion Novice Championship East Coast in Select Showmanship. Ernie is retired and enjoys his days doing nothing on the farm. The Balins purchased Chips Good Rodder “Chip” at the Congress sale as a yearling. He went on to win The Kentucky Futurity as a Two Year Old in Western Pleasure and many other circuit championships. Shortly after that Larry and Lynda decided to start breeding. The first broodmare was Elizaberry who was in foal to Hot Ones Only. She delivered a 2014 filly Your a Daisy If You HOO. Daisy was double registered and was successfully shown in both APHA and AQHA. In 2015, Cloaked In Honor “Prince” was purchased and was 7th at the NSBA World, 8th at the Congress, and Top 5 at the Tom Powers as a Two in Hunter Under Saddle. Prince won multiple circuit awards. After he sold, he became a multiple World and Congress Champion and he is still winning today. Also in 2015, A Simply Hot Cowgirl “Mercedes” was purchased in foal to VS Code Blue. Her first foal, Ladies Luv Outlaws “Pippy” was born in 2014 was top Ten at Congress as a two and three year old in Western Pleasure, Reserve Champion in the Novice Amateur Championship in Western Pleasure and has earned her Superior in Western Pleasure. VS Irish Cowgirl by VS Code Blue “Bailey” was born in 2015 and has two ROMs, successfully shown in Western Pleasure, English, Equitation, Horsemanship, Halter, Barrels and Poles. Bailey will be showing in NYATT in 2021. Kissin Hot Cowgirls by Kissin The Girls “Tommy” was born in 2018 and is just getting started with his new owner in the all around events. A Simple Kiss by Kissin The Girls “Arthur” was born in 2019 and just getting started with his new owner. Shes Double Hot by One Hot Krymsun was born in 2021. In 2016, Always That Simple was purchased because she is a ½ sister to A Simply Hot Cowgirl. She was bred the same week she arrived to VS Code Blue. In 2017 VS Simply Man “Lynyrd” was born and he is special. Ali was bred back to VS Code Blue and VS Traveling Man was born in 2018. In 2020 Simply Creepin “KoKo” by Justa Creepin was born. We are expecting another Justa Creepin foal in 2022. In 2019 Her Name Escapes Me a rare daughter of Skys Strawberry was purchased in foal to Nite Moves from Findley University. Queenie was 7th at Congress Masters and 9th at Congress as a Three Year Old in Hunter Under Saddle and over 9k in earnings. In 2020 Queenie delivered Nite Skys “David”. In 2021 All Eyez On Her by Easy On the Eyez “Kate” was born. We are expecting another Easy On the Eyez in 2022.
